Tyranny of Dissent, Tyranny of the Few:  Distrust of Government as Protection of the Powerful Private Interests

I asked three different people the same question:  Do you have better information than the civil authorities when it comes to the Covid19 situation?  The answer each time was a virulent ad hominem attack against me.  This was bullying, a form of exercising tyranny which is the tyranny of dissent.

Many Americans no longer trust their government or civil authorities. Years of government lying, a culture that encourages uncovering “dirt,” and a basic ideology that elevates distrust to a virtue is showing its fruits during a national health emergency.    Dissent has become a duty or the only reasonable alternative in the minds of many.  This in turn is used to better control the populace by channeling any unrest towards government and not the powerful private interests.
